I have to kind of disagree with you guys on this one. Let me give you an example.
Lets say I run a website about technoloy reviewing the latest and greatest of everything, now I have advertising and what not on the site but the thing that gets clicked most is a link to an online retailer. Now at this retailer I might get $5 for everyone that buys something by clicking from my site, even though it is a low payout, how much will you end up having to spend there? I love this for my technology junkie mind. It means even though I may not be getting a lot of money, I may be getting some money off the latest computer software or hardware, or getting all my birthday gifts and so on paid for the year, just by having a low paying online store type link.

I think like Steve said, you really need to find what works and what doesn't work for you and then go with it, not giving up straight away.
