I've been reading a lot about how writing articles and submitting them can help you gain back links and some good traffic. I'm somewhat new to this so I don't really know where to begin. Do I post these articles directly onto the site I'm trying to get traffic to? I'm assuming I would want to use some sort of content management system, any suggestions?

Article marketing which is also known as BUM marketing should be done in a proper way or there will be no chance in hell making money.

First, search the market and hunt the hottest product and then grab a product affiliate link from your affiliate company.
Then, write an attractive article of about 300-500 and grammar is not really important but you should concentrate on it too.

Write an article, in which you'll tell people about the advantages of the product and the tips too, don't write an article in which you'll be only favoring the product, write something useful so that, you may attract other users.

Finally, divide your article in 3 section:
1 - In start, tell them what you're gonna write in the article.
2 - Write the article, insert your knowledge in this.
3 - Conclusion, tell them what you told them in the article.
